So will it be1 with the resurrection of the dead.2 The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;343
it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory;4 it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.5 If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"a;6 the last Adam,7 a life-giving spirit.846
The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.947
The first man was of the dust of the earth,10 the second man from heaven.1148
As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.1249
And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man,13 so shall web bear the likeness of the man from heaven.1450
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood15 cannot inherit the kingdom of God,16 nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.1751
Listen, I tell you a mystery:18 We will not all sleep,19 but we will all be changed20--
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound,21 the dead22 will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For the perishable23 must clothe itself with the imperishable,24 and the mortal with immortality.
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."c2555
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"d2656
The sting of death is sin,27 and the power of sin is the law.2857
But thanks be to God!29 He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.30
