2 "There is no one holya1 like2 the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock3 like our God. 3 "Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance,4 for the LORD is a God who knows,5 and by him deeds6 are weighed.7 4 "The bows of the warriors are broken,8 but those who stumbled are armed with strength.9 5 Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry10 hunger no more. She who was barren11 has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. 6 "The LORD brings death and makes alive;12 he brings down to the graveb and raises up.13 7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth;14 he humbles and he exalts.15 8 He raises16 the poor17 from the dust18 and lifts the needy19 from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.20 "For the foundations21 of the earth are the LORD's; upon them he has set the world. 9 He will guard the feet22 of his saints,23 but the wicked will be silenced in darkness.24 "It is not by strength25 that one prevails; 10 those who oppose the LORD will be shattered.26 He will thunder27 against them from heaven; the LORD will judge28 the ends of the earth. "He will give strength29 to his king and exalt the horn30 of his anointed." 11 Then Elkanah went home to Ramah,31 but the boy ministered32 before the LORD under Eli the priest.
