1 Timothy 3:2-7 (New International Version)

2 Now the overseer must be above reproach,1 the husband of but one wife,2 temperate,3 self-controlled, respectable, hospitable,4 able to teach,5 3 not given to drunkenness,6 not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome,7 not a lover of money.8 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.9 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)10 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited11 and fall under the same judgment12 as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,13 so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.14
