I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,1 intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--

for kings and all those in authority,2 that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness3 and holiness.

This is good, and pleases4 God our Savior,54
who wants6 all men7 to be saved8 and to come to a knowledge of the truth.95
For there is one God10 and one mediator11 between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,126
who gave himself as a ransom13 for all men--the testimony14 given in its proper time.157
And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying16--and a teacher17 of the true faith to the Gentiles.18
