in order that Satan1 might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.2

I still had no peace of mind,6 because I did not find my brother Titus7 there. So I said good-by to them and went on to Macedonia.814
But thanks be to God,9 who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance10 of the knowledge11 of him.
For we are to God the aroma12 of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.1316
To the one we are the smell of death;14 to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?1517
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit.16 On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity,17 like men sent from God.18
