1 Then I looked, and behold, in the 1expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim something like a 2sapphirestone, in appearanceresembling a 3throne, appearedabove them.
2
And He spoke to the manclothed in linen and said, "Enterbetween the 4whirlingwheelsunder the cherubim and fill your hands with 5coals of fire from between the cherubim and scatter them over the city." And he entered in my sight.
3
Now the cherubim were standing on the rightside of the temple when the manentered, and the cloudfilled the 6innercourt.
4
Then the 7glory of the LORDwent up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the 8temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the 9brightness of the glory of the LORD.
5
Moreover, the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outercourt, like the 10voice of GodAlmighty when He speaks.
6
It came about when He commanded the manclothed in linen, saying, "Takefire from between the whirlingwheels, from between the cherubim," he entered and stoodbeside a wheel.
7
Then the cherubstretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the firewhich was between the cherubim, took some and put it into the hands of the one clothed in linen, who took it and went out.
8
The cherubimappeared to have the form of a man'shandunder their wings.
9
Then I looked, and behold, 11fourwheelsbeside the cherubim, onewheelbesideeachcherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like the gleam of a 12Tarshishstone.
10
As for their appearance, all four of them had the samelikeness, as if one wheel were within another wheel.
11
When they moved, they went13in any of their fourdirectionswithoutturning as they went; but they followed* in the directionwhich they faced*, withoutturning as they went.
12
Their 14wholebody, their backs, their hands, their wings and the 15wheels were full of eyesallaround, the wheels belonging to all four of them.
13
The wheels were called in my hearing, the whirlingwheels.
14
And 16eachone had fourfaces. The firstface was the face of a cherub, the secondface was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
15
Then the cherubimrose up. They are the 17livingbeings that I saw by the riverChebar.
16
Now when the cherubimmoved, the wheels would gobeside them; also when the cherubimlifted up their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels would not turn from beside them.
17
When the cherubim 18stoodstill, the wheels would standstill; and when they rose up, the wheels would rise with them, for the spirit of the livingbeings was in them.
18
Then the glory of the LORDdeparted from the threshold of the temple and stood19over the cherubim.
19
When 20the cherubimdeparted, they lifted their wings and rose up from the earth in my sight with the wheelsbeside them; and they stoodstill at the entrance of the eastgate of the LORD'Shouse, and the glory of the God of Israelhovered*over them.
20
These are the 21livingbeings that I sawbeneath the God of Israel by 22the riverChebar; so I knew that they were cherubim.
21
23Eachone had fourfaces and eachonefourwings, and beneath their wings was the form of humanhands.
22
As for the likeness of their faces, they were the samefaceswhoseappearance I had seen by the riverChebar. Eachonewentstraight**ahead.
