Amos 5:19-27 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear,1 as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him.2 20 Will not the day of the LORD be darkness,3 not light-- pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?4 21 "I hate,5 I despise your religious feasts;6 I cannot stand your assemblies.7 22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings8 and grain offerings, I will not accept them.910 Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,a I will have no regard for them.1112 23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.13 24 But let justice14 roll on like a river, righteousness15 like a never-failing stream!16 25 "Did you bring me sacrifices17 and offerings forty years18 in the desert, O house of Israel? 26 You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols,19 the star of your godb-- which you made for yourselves. 27 Therefore I will send you into exile20 beyond Damascus," says the LORD, whose name is God Almighty.21
