Genesis 27:8 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 27:8

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice
Hearken to what I am about to say, and do according to that which I command thee, in every particular;
she required of him filial obedience to all that she enjoined him; which, though not difficult to be performed, she was aware Jacob would make objections to, as he did; and therefore she is so pressing and peremptory in her injunctions, as well knowing it was respecting an affair of the greatest moment and importance.

Genesis 27:8 In-Context

6 And Rebekah said to Jacob, her son, Your father said to your brother Esau in my hearing,
7 Go and get some roe's meat and make me a good meal, so that I may be full, and give you my blessing before the Lord before my death.
8 Now, my son, do what I say.
9 Go to the flock and get me two fat young goats; and I will make of them a meal to your father's taste:
10 And you will take it to him, so that he may have a good meal and give you his blessing before his death.
