Beyond Sunday: The Election that Matters

Beyond Sunday: The Election that Matters

[Editor's note: Beyond Sunday is a Monday refresher to carry you through the week.]

Focus Verse of the Week

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. (2 Peter 1:10)

Classic Commentary

Peter uses the address "brothers" here and nowhere else in his letters to show how important this exhortation is. God has called you by his word and his Spirit; he has elected you, separated you from the world, through sanctification of the Spirit. Don't disregard these invaluable benefits! If you are as diligent as Peter says in making your election firm, you shall never finally fall.

A Thought to Keep

Although there are many temporary "elections" in this world, the one that matters is God's call to salvation. Seek God diligently this week in prayer.
