13 1These things I have written to you who 2believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have 3eternal life. 14 This is 4the confidence which we have abefore Him, that, 5if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, 6we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. 16 If anyone sees his brother bcommitting a sin not leading to death, 7he shall ask and cGod will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. 8There is a sin leading to death ; 9I do not say that he should make request for this. 17 10All unrighteousness is sin, and 11there is a sin not leading to death. 18 12We know that 13no one who is dborn of God sins ; but He who was eborn of God 14keeps him, and 15the evil one does not 16touch him. 19 17We know that 18we are of God, and that 19the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 And 20we know that 21the Son of God has come, and has 22given us understanding so that we may know 23Him who is true ; and we 24are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. 25This is the true God and 26eternal life. 21 27Little children, guard yourselves from 28idols.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
