But in givingthisinstruction, 1I do not praise you, because you cometogether not for the better but for the worse.
For, in the first place, when you cometogetheraas a church, I hear that b2divisionsexistamong you; and in part I believe it.
For there 3mustalso be factionsamong you, 4so that those who are approved may becomecevidentamong you.
20Therefore when you meettogether , it is not to eat the Lord'sSupper,
for in your eatingeachonetakes his ownsupperfirst; and one is hungry and 5another is drunk.
22What! Do you not havehouses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the 6church of God and 7shamethose who havenothing? What shall I say to you? Shall 8I praise you? In this I will not praise you.
For 9I received from the Lord that which I alsodelivered to you, that 10the LordJesus in the night in which He was betrayedtookbread;
and when He had giventhanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; dothis in remembrance of Me."25
In the sameway He took 11the cupalsoaftersupper, saying, "Thiscup is the 12newcovenant in My blood; dothis, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."26
For as often as you eatthisbread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord'sdeath13until He comes.
27Thereforewhoevereats the breadordrinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthymanner, shall be 14guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
But a man must 15examinehimself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinksjudgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.
For thisreasonmanyamong you are weak and sick, and a numberd16sleep.
But if we judgedourselves rightly, we would not be judged.
But when we are judged, we are 17disciplined by the Lordso that we will not be condemnedalong with 18the world.
33Sothen, my brethren, when you cometogether to eat, wait for oneanother.
34Ifanyone is 19hungry, let him eat20at home, so that you will not cometogether for judgment. The remaining matters I will 21arrange22when I come.
