Young's Literal Translation
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient : all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
But I have used none of these things : neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die , than that any man should make my glorying void .
For though I preach the gospel , I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel !
What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel , I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient : all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink ; for to morrow we die .
For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries .
