Young's Literal Translation
It happened year after year, as often as she went up to the house of the LORD , she would provoke her; so she wept and would not eat.
Now Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his eyes were set so that he could not see.
When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell off the seat backward beside the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for he was old and heavy. Thus he judged Israel forty years.
From the day that the ark remained at Kiriath-jearim, the time was long, for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD .
He used to go annually on circuit to Bethel and Gilgal and Mizpah, and he judged Israel in all these places.
Saul was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty two years over Israel.
Then the commanders of the Philistines said, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, "Is this not David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him from the day he deserted to me to this day?"
