Now 1Solomon the son of Davidestablished himself securelyover his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and 2exalted him greatly.
2Solomonspoke to allIsrael, 3to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and to the judges and to everyleader in allIsrael, the heads of the fathers' households.
Then Solomon and all the assembly with him went to 4the highplacewhich was at Gibeon, 5for God'stent of meeting was there, whichMoses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
4However, David had brought up 6the ark of God from Kiriath-jearimato 7the place he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
Now 8the bronzealtar, whichBezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, bwas therebefore the tabernacle of the LORD, and Solomon and the assemblysought it out.
6Solomonwent up therebefore the LORD to the bronzealtarwhich was at the tent of meeting, and 9offered a thousandburntofferings on it.
710In that nightGodappeared to Solomon and said to him, "Askwhat I shall give you."
8Solomonsaid to God, "You have dealt with my fatherDavid with greatlovingkindness, and 11have made me king in his place.
9"Now, O LORDGod, 12Your cpromise to my fatherDavid is fulfilled, for You have made me kingover13a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
"14Give me nowwisdom and knowledge, 15that I may go out and come in beforethispeople, for who can rulethisgreatpeople of Yours?"
1116Godsaid to Solomon, "Becausedyou hadthis in mind, and did not ask for riches, wealth or honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor have you evenasked for longlife, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may rule My peopleoverwhom I have made you king,
12wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And 17I will give you riches and wealth and honor, esuch as none of the kingswho were before you has possessednor those who will fcome after you."
1318So Solomonwentgfrom the highplacewhich was at Gibeon, from the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem, and he reignedoverIsrael.
