But 1ifany has causedsorrow, he has causedsorrow not to me, but in somedegree -ain order not to saytoomuch -to all of you.
6Sufficient for such a one is 2thispunishment which was inflicted by the majority,
7so that on the contrary you should rather3forgive and comfort him, otherwisesuch a one might be overwhelmed by excessivesorrow.
8Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him.
For to this end also4I wrote, so that I might b5put you to the test, whether you are 6obedient in allthings.
But onewhom you forgiveanything, I forgive also; for indeedwhat I have forgiven, if I have forgivenanything, I did it for your sakes7in the presence of Christ,
11so that noadvantage would be taken of us by 8Satan, for 9we are not ignorant of his schemes.
