aFor I am mindful of the 1sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and 2your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.

For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh 3the gift of God which is in you through 4the laying on of my hands.
7
For God has not given us a 5spirit of btimidity, but of power and love and cdiscipline.
8
Therefore 6do not be ashamed of the 7testimony of our Lord or of me 8His prisoner, but join with me in 9suffering for the 10gospel according to the power of God,
9
who has 11saved us and 12called us with a holy 13calling, 14not according to our works, but according to His own 15purpose and grace which was granted us in 16Christ Jesus from 17all eternity,

but 18now has been revealed by the 19appearing of our Savior 20Christ Jesus, who 21abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

22for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher.

For this reason I also suffer these things, but 23I am not ashamed ; for I know 24whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to 25guard what I have entrusted to Him duntil 26that day.

e27Retain the 28standard of 29sound words 30which you have heard from me, in the 31faith and love which are in 32Christ Jesus.

Guard, through the Holy Spirit who 33dwells in us, the f34treasure which has been entrusted to you.
