2 Corinthians 2:3; 2 Corinthians 2:11; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 2 Corinthians 8:20; 2 Corinthians 11:16; 2 Corinthians 12:6-7; 2 Corinthians 13:7 (New American Standard)

3 This is the very thing I wrote you, so that when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice ; having confidence in you all that my joy would be the joy of you all. 11 so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 20 taking precaution so that no one will discredit us in our administration of this generous gift ; 16 Again I say, let no one think me foolish ; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth ; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.

A Thorn in the Flesh

7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me-to keep me from exalting myself! 7 Now we pray to God that you do no wrong ; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may appear unapproved.
