22 Abner repeated again to Asahel, "Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab?" 28 So Joab blew the trumpet; and all the people halted and pursued Israel no longer, nor did they continue to fight anymore. 9 "May God do so to Abner, and more also, if as the LORD has sworn to David, I do not accomplish this for him, 34 "Your hands were not bound, nor your feet put in fetters; As one falls before the wicked , you have fallen." And all the people wept again over him. 35 Then all the people came to persuade David to eat bread while it was still day; but David vowed, saying, "May God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun goes down." 22 Now the Philistines came up once again and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

Peril in Moving the Ark

1 Now David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 10 "I will also appoint a place for My people Israel and will plant them, that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, nor will the wicked afflict them any more as formerly, 8 'I also gave you your master's house and your master's wives into your care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you many more things like these! 10 So the king said, "Whoever speaks to you, bring him to me, and he will not touch you anymore ." 22 Now Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said once more to Joab, "But whatever happens, please let me also run after the Cushite." And Joab said, "Why would you run, my son, since you will have no reward for going?" 13 "Say to Amasa, 'Are you not my bone and my flesh? May God do so to me, and more also, if you will not be commander of the army before me continually in place of Joab.' "

The Census Taken

1 Now again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and it incited David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah." 3 But Joab said to the king, "Now may the LORD your God add to the people a hundred times as many as they are, while the eyes of my lord the king still see; but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?"
