"I destroyed the Amorite1 before them, though he was tall2 as the cedars and strong as the oaks.3 I destroyed his fruit above and his roots4 below.
"I brought you up out of Egypt,5 and I led6 you forty years in the desert7 to give you the land of the Amorites.811
