Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "1Stretch out your handtoward the sky, that there may be darknessover the land of Egypt, even a darkness2which may be felt."
So Mosesstretched out his handtoward the sky, and there was 3thickdarkness in all the land of Egypt for threedays.
They did not seeoneanother, nor did anyonerise from his place for threedays, 4but all the sons of Israelhadlight in their dwellings.
Then Pharaoh5called to Moses, and said, "Go, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be detained. Even6your littleones may go with you."
But Mosessaid, "You must alsoalet us havesacrifices and burntofferings, that we may bsacrifice them to the LORD our God.
"7Therefore, our livestocktoo shall go with us; not a hoof shall be leftbehind, for we shall takesome of them to serve the LORD our God. And until we arrivethere, we ourselves do not know with what we shall serve the LORD."
But 8the LORDchardenedPharaoh'sheart, and he was not willing to let them go.
Then Pharaohsaid to him, "9Getaway from me! dBeware, do not see my faceagain, for in the day you see my face you shall die!"
29Mosessaid, "You are right; 10I shall neversee your faceagain!"
