Then the LORDspoke to Moses, saying,
"1Sanctify to Me everyfirstborn, the firstaoffspring of everywomb among the sons of Israel, both of man and beast ; it belongs to Me."
3Mosessaid to the people, "2Rememberthisday in which you went out from Egypt, from the house of bslavery ; for 3by ca powerfulhand the LORDbrought you out from this place. 4And nothingleavened shall be eaten.
"On this day in the 5month of Abib, you are about to goforth.
"It shall be when the LORD6brings you to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, which7He swore to your fathers to give you, a landflowing with milk and honey, 8that you shall dobservethisrite in thismonth.
"For 9sevendays you shall eatunleavenedbread, and on the seventhday there shall be a feast to the LORD.
7"Unleavenedbread shall be eaten throughout the sevendays ; and 10nothingleavened shall be seeneamong you, nor shall any leaven be seenfamong you in all your borders.
"11You shall tell your son on that day, saying, 'It is because of what the LORDdid for me when I came out of Egypt.'
"And 12it shall gserve as a sign to you on your hand, and as a reminderhon your forehead , that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth ; for with 13a powerfulhand the LORDbrought you out of Egypt.
"Therefore, you shall 14keepthisordinance at its appointedtime from iyear to year.
"Now when15the LORDbrings you to the land of the Canaanite, as 16He swore to you and to your fathers, and gives it to you,
1217you shall jdevote to the LORD the firstkoffspring of everywomb, and lthe firstoffspring of everybeast that you own ; the males belong to the LORD.
"But 18everyfirstmoffspring of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck ; and 19everyfirstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.
"20And it shall be when your sonasks you in time to come, saying, 'What is this ?' then you shall say to him, '21With a npowerfulhand the LORDbrought us out of Egypt, from the house of oslavery.
'It came about, whenPharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that the 22LORDkilledeveryfirstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore , I sacrifice to the LORD the males, the firstpoffspring of everywomb, but everyfirstborn of my sons I redeem.'
"So 23it shall qserve as a sign on your hand and as rphylacteriesson your forehead , for with a tpowerfulhand the LORDbrought us out of Egypt."
