In you they have treated father and mother with contempt;1 in you they have oppressed the alien2 and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.3

You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.4

In you are slanderous men5 bent on shedding blood;6 in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines7 and commit lewd acts.8

In you are those who dishonor their fathers' bed;9 in you are those who violate women during their period,10 when they are ceremonially unclean.11

In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor's wife,12 another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law,13 and another violates his sister,14 his own father's daughter.15

In you men accept bribes16 to shed blood; you take usury17 and excessive interesta and make unjust gain from your neighbors18 by extortion. And you have forgotten19 me, declares the Sovereign LORD.20
