The word of the LORDcame again to me saying,
2"Son of man, prophesy and say, 'Thussays the LordaGOD, "1Wail, 'Alas for the day !'
"For the day is near, Even 2the day of the LORD is near ; It will be a day of 3clouds, A time of doom for the nations.
"A sword will come upon Egypt, And anguish will be in bEthiopia ; When the slainfall in Egypt, They 4take away her cwealth, And her foundations are torndown.
"dEthiopia, Put, Lud, alle5Arabia, fLibya and the gpeople of the landhthat is in league will fall with them by the sword."
6'Thussays the LORD, "Indeed, those who support6Egypt will fall And the pride of her power will comedown ; From Migdol to Syene They will fall within her by the sword," Declares the LordGOD.
"They will be desolate In the 7midst of the desolatedlands ; And her cities will be In the midst of the devastatedcities.
"And they will 8know that I am the LORD, When I set a 9fire in Egypt And all her helpers are broken.
"On that day10messengers will goforth from Me in ships to frighten11secureiEthiopia ; and 12anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt ; for behold, it comes !"
10'Thussays the LordGOD, "13I will also make the jhordes of Egyptcease By the hand of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon.
"He and his people with him, 14The mostruthless of the nations, Will be brought in to destroy the land ; And they will draw their swordsagainstEgypt And fill the land with the slain.
"Moreover, I will make the 15Nilecanalsdry And 16sell the land into the hands of evilmen. And I will make the landdesolate And kall that is in it, By the hand of strangers ; I the LORD have spoken."
13'Thussays the LordGOD, "I will also 17destroy the idols And make the limagescease from m18Memphis. And there will nolonger be a prince in the land of Egypt ; And I will putfear in the land of Egypt.
"I will make19Pathrosdesolate, Set a fire in 20Zoan And executejudgments on n21Thebes.
"I will pour out My wrath on oSin, The stronghold of Egypt ; I will also cutoff the hordes of pThebes.
"I will set a fire in Egypt ; qSin will writhe in anguish, rThebes will be breached And sMemphis will have tdistressesdaily.
"The youngmen of u22On and of Pi-beseth Will fall by the sword, And vthe women will go into captivity.
"In 23Tehaphnehes the day will wbe 24dark When I 25breakthere the yokebars of Egypt. Then the pride of her power will cease in her; A cloud will cover her, And her daughters will go into captivity.
"Thus I will 26executejudgments on Egypt, And they will know that I am the LORD.""'
