Isaac and Abimelech

26:1-11Ref -- Ge 12:10-20; 20:1-18

1 Now there was a famine in the land¹--besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time--and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines² in Gerar.³ 2 The LORD appeared⁴ to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt;⁵ live in the land where I tell you to live.⁶ 3 Stay in this land for a while,⁷ and I will be with you⁸ and will bless you.⁹ For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands¹⁰ and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.¹¹ 4 I will make your descendants¹² as numerous as the stars in the sky¹³ and will give them all these lands,¹⁴ and through your offspring^a all nations on earth will be blessed,¹⁵ 5 because Abraham obeyed me¹⁶ and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees¹⁷ and my laws.¹⁸"
