"You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little.1 What you brought home, I blew2 away. Why?" declares the LORD Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin,3 while each of you is busy with his own house.

Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld4 their dew5 and the earth its crops.6
11
I called for a drought7 on the fields and the mountains,8 on the grain, the new wine,9 the oil10 and whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle, and on the labor of your hands.11"
