181For you have not come to 2a mountain that can be touched and to a blazingfire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind,
and to the 3blast of a trumpet and the 4sound of wordswhich sound was such that those who heard5begged that nofurtherword be spoken to them.
For they could not bear the command, "6IFEVEN A BEASTTOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED."
And soterrible was the sight, that Mosessaid, "7I AMFULL OF FEAR and trembling."
But 8you have come to MountZion and to 9the city of 10the livingGod, 11the heavenlyJerusalem, and to 12myriads of aangels,
to the generalassembly and 13church of the firstborn who 14are enrolled in heaven, and to God, 15the Judge of all, and to the 16spirits of the righteousmadeperfect,
and to Jesus, the 17mediator of a newcovenant, and to the 18sprinkledblood, which speaksbetterthan19the blood of Abel.
2520See to it that you do not refuse Him who is 21speaking. For 22ifthose did not escape when they 23refused him who 24warned them on earth, bmuchless will we escape who turnaway from Him who 25warns from heaven.
And 26His voiceshook the earththen, but now He has promised, saying, "27YETONCEMORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN."
27This expression, "Yetoncemore," denotes28the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of createdthings, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28Therefore, since we receive a 29kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us cshowgratitude, by which we may 30offer to God an acceptableservice with reverence and awe ;
for 31our God is a consumingfire.
