"Sound the trumpet1 in Gibeah,2 the horn in Ramah.3 Raise the battle cry in Beth Avena;4 lead on, O Benjamin.
Ephraim will be laid waste5 on the day of reckoning.6 Among the tribes of Israel I proclaim what is certain.710
Judah's leaders are like those who move boundary stones.8 I will pour out my wrath9 on them like a flood of water.
Ephraim is oppressed, trampled in judgment, intent on pursuing idols.b1012
I am like a moth11 to Ephraim, like rot12 to the people of Judah.
"When Ephraim13 saw his sickness, and Judah his sores, then Ephraim turned to Assyria,14 and sent to the great king for help.15 But he is not able to cure16 you, not able to heal your sores.1714
For I will be like a lion18 to Ephraim, like a great lion to Judah. I will tear them to pieces19 and go away; I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.2015
Then I will go back to my place21 until they admit their guilt.22 And they will seek my face;23 in their misery24 they will earnestly seek me.25"
