On the day the LORD gives you relief1 from suffering and turmoil2 and cruel bondage,34
you will take up this taunt4 against the king of Babylon:5 How the oppressor6 has come to an end! How his furya has ended!
The LORD has broken the rod7 of the wicked,8 the scepter9 of the rulers,
which in anger struck down peoples10 with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued11 nations with relentless aggression.127
All the lands are at rest and at peace;13 they break into singing.148
Even the pine trees15 and the cedars of Lebanon exult over you and say, "Now that you have been laid low, no woodsman comes to cut us down."16
