The officials of Zoan1 are nothing but fools; the wise counselors2 of Pharaoh give senseless advice.3 How can you say to Pharaoh, "I am one of the wise men,4 a disciple of the ancient kings"?
Where are your wise men5 now? Let them show you and make known what the LORD Almighty has planned6 against Egypt.
The officials of Zoan7 have become fools, the leaders of Memphisa8 are deceived; the cornerstones9 of her peoples have led Egypt astray.
The LORD has poured into them a spirit of dizziness;10 they make Egypt stagger in all that she does, as a drunkard staggers11 around in his vomit.
There is nothing Egypt can do-- head or tail, palm branch or reed.12
