1Woe, O aAriel, bAriel the city where David once 1camped! Addyear to year, c2observe your feasts on schedule.
I will bringdistress to Ariel, And she will be a city of lamenting and 3mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.
I will 4campagainst you dencircling you, And I will setsiegeworksagainst you, And I will raise up battletowersagainst you.
Then you will 5be broughtlow; From the earth you will speak, And from the dust where you are prostrate Your words will come. Your voice will also be like that of a espirit from the ground, And your speech will whisper from the dust.
But the multitude of your fenemies will become like fine6dust, And the multitude of the 7ruthlessones like the chaff which gblowsaway; And it will happen8instantly, suddenly.
From the LORD of hosts you will be 9punished with 10thunder and earthquake and loudnoise, With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consumingfire.
And the 11multitude of all the nations who wagewaragainsthAriel, Even all who wagewar against her and her stronghold, and who distress her, Will be like a dream, a 12vision of the night.
It will be as when a hungrymandreams - And behold, he is eating; But when he awakens, his ihunger is not satisfied, Or as when a thirstymandreams - And behold, he is drinking, But when he awakens, behold, he is faint And his jthirst is not quenched. 13Thus the multitude of all the nations will be Who wagewaragainstMountZion.
914Be delayed and wait, Blind yourselves and be blind; They 15becomedrunk, but not with wine, They stagger, but not with strongdrink.
For the LORD has pouredover you a spirit of deep16sleep, He has 17shut your eyes, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, the seers.
The entirevision will be to you like the words of a sealedk18book, which when they give it to the one who lis literate , saying, "Pleasereadthis," he will say, "I cannot , for it is sealed."
Then the mbook will be given to the one whonis illiterate , saying, "Pleasereadthis." And he will say, "I ocannotread ."
Then the Lordsaid, "Because19thispeopledrawnear with their pwords And honor Me with their qlipservice, But they remove their heartsfar from Me, And their rreverence for Me sconsists of ttraditionlearned by rote,
14Thereforebehold, I will once againdeal20marvelously with thispeople, wondrouslymarvelous; And 21the wisdom of their wisemen will perish, And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed."
