Isaiah 58:7-11 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry1 and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter2-- when you see the naked, to clothe3 him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?4 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,5 and your healing6 will quickly appear; then your righteousnessa7 will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.8 9 Then you will call,9 and the LORD will answer;10 you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger11 and malicious talk,12 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,13 then your light14 will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.15 11 The LORD will guide16 you always; he will satisfy your needs17 in a sun-scorched land18 and will strengthen19 your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden,20 like a spring21 whose waters never fail.
