But look, you are trusting1 in deceptive2 words that are worthless.

" 'Will you steal3 and murder,4 commit adultery5 and perjury,a6 burn incense to Baal78 and follow other gods9 you have not known,

and then come and stand10 before me in this house,11 which bears my Name, and say, "We are safe"--safe to do all these detestable things?12

Has this house,13 which bears my Name, become a den of robbers14 to you? But I have been watching!15 declares the LORD.
