When Jesus had spokenthese words, 1He wentforth with His disciplesover2the aravine of the Kidron, where there was 3a garden, in which He enteredbwith His disciples.
2NowJudasalso, who was cbetraying Him, knew the place, for Jesus had 4oftenmetthere with His disciples.
35Judasthen, having received6the Roman dcohort and 7officers from the chiefpriests and the Pharisees, camethere with lanterns and 8torches and weapons.
4SoJesus, 9knowingall the things that were coming upon Him, wentforth and said to them, "10Whom do you seek?"5
They answered Him, "Jesus the Nazarene." He said to them, "I am He." And Judasalso, who was betraying Him, was standing with them.
6Sowhen He said to them, "I am He," they drewback and fell to the ground.
7Therefore He againasked them, "11Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus the Nazarene."
8Jesusanswered, "I told you that I am He; soif you seek Me, letthesego their way,"9
to fulfill the wordwhich He spoke, "12Of those whom You have given Me I lost not one."10SimonPeterthen, 13having a sword, drew it and struck the highpriest'sslave, and cutoff his rightear; and the slave'sname was Malchus.
11SoJesussaid to Peter, "Put the sword into the sheath; 14the cupwhich the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"
