Luke 11:1-4

Pastor Jack Morris brings a message today called Healing Worship. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus shows us that prayer is the pathway into God’s presence, where healing, hope, and strength are found.

Many people have difficulty with prayer. Even people who have been Christians for a long time, can struggle with having a consistent and fruitful prayer life. We often allow life to bog us down or carry us along before we think of turning to the Lord in prayer. We hope that today is an opportunity for you to commit yourself to prayer once again. In Luke chapter eleven, we'll learn how to pray effectively and there's no one better to teach us how than the Lord Himself. Here's Pastor Bill with the words of Jesus.

There is a story of a man who endured all the horrors of a Soviet prison camp. One day he was praying with his eyes closed when a fellow prisoner noticed him and said with ridicule, "Prayers won't help you get out of here any faster." Opening his eyes, he answered, "I do not pray to get out of prison but to do the will of God." Welcome once again to Hope From the Word with Bill Luebkemann. As we continue our journey through the Bible, Pastor Bill has us consider Luke chapter eleven and a section of scripture often referred to as the Lord's Prayer. The Lord's Prayer helps us to see the purpose of prayer and what sort of things we should pray for. Let's look at it now and learn from the words of Jesus.

We’ll be giving our attention to the Lord’s Prayer here today on A Daily Walk, as we continue our study of Luke’s Gospel.  You’ll find it in chapter eleven.  Here Jesus gives His disciples and us a model of how we are to pray.  There are some things here that we should incorporate into our prayer lives.  It starts with God’s person and then transitions to God’s purpose, provision and protection.  

These days we can communicate in a variety of ways with our loved ones, from texting to email!  Or even picking up the phone and calling!  Remember life before cell phones though?  While a lot has changed through the years in that regard, the way we access the Heavenly Father hasn’t changed.  We can talk to Him anytime, and anywhere.  No dropouts or poor reception!  What a privilege when you stop to think of it!  Today we continue our verse by verse study in the Gospel of Luke.  We’ll spend our time in chapter eleven, in what’s been often referred to as the Lord’s Prayer.  It serves as a wonderful model for us to follow.

When we pray for forgiveness, we walk in the beautiful power of Christ’s forgiveness, moment by moment. And, because Jesus has forgiven us, we can forgive ourselves, bringing us to a place of victory and rest.
