Therefore God exalted him1 to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,210
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,3 in heaven and on earth and under the earth,411
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,5 to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,613
for it is God who works in you7 to will and to act according to his good purpose.814
Do everything without complaining9 or arguing,
so that you may become blameless10 and pure, children of God11 without fault in a crooked and depraved generation,12 in which you shine like stars in the universe
as you hold outa the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ13 that I did not run14 or labor for nothing.1517
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering16 on the sacrifice17 and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.1818
So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy19 to you soon,20 that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.
I have no one else like him,21 who takes a genuine interest in your welfare.
For everyone looks out for his own interests,22 not those of Jesus Christ.
