for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;

for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair;

for giving prudence to those who are simple,a4 knowledge and discretion5 to the young--

let the wise listen and add to their learning,6 and let the discerning get guidance--

for understanding proverbs and parables,7 the sayings and riddles8 of the wise.b97
The fear of the LORD10 is the beginning of knowledge, but foolsc despise wisdom11 and instruction.12
