Therefore, there is now no condemnation1 for those who are in Christ Jesus,a22
because through Christ Jesus3 the law of the Spirit of life4 set me free5 from the law of sin6 and death.
For what the law was powerless7 to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,b8 God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man9 to be a sin offering.c10 And so he condemned sin in sinful man,d4
in order that the righteous requirements11 of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.125
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires;13 but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.146
The mind of sinful mane is death,15 but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life16 and peace;
the sinful mindf is hostile to God.17 It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
Those controlled by the sinful nature18 cannot please God.
You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature19 but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.20 And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,21 he does not belong to Christ.
But if Christ is in you,22 your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead23 is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies24 through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.2513
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die;26 but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,27 you will live,2814
because those who are led by the Spirit of God29 are sons of God.3015
For you did not receive a spirit31 that makes you a slave again to fear,32 but you received the Spirit of sonship.g And by him we cry, ""Abba,"h Father."3316
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit34 that we are God's children.3517
Now if we are children, then we are heirs36--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings37 in order that we may also share in his glory.38
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.3919
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God40 to be revealed.
For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it,41 in hope
thati the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay42 and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.4322
We know that the whole creation has been groaning44 as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,45 groan46 inwardly as we wait eagerly47 for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.4824
For in this hope we were saved.49 But hope that is seen is no hope at all.50 Who hopes for what he already has?
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.5126
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit52 himself intercedes for us53 with groans that words cannot express.
And he who searches our hearts54 knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes55 for the saints in accordance with God's will.
