and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior1 attractive.2

For the grace3 of God that brings salvation has appeared4 to all men.5

It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions,6 and to live self-controlled,7 upright and godly lives8 in this present age,

while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing9 of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,10
14
who gave himself for us11 to redeem us from all wickedness12 and to purify13 for himself a people that are his very own,14 eager to do what is good.15
