Young's Literal Translation
Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
And they prayed , and said , Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen ,
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves : who was slain ; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered , and brought to nought.
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone : for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought :
And saying , Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein :
For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet , and to do nothing rashly.
Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar , and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.
But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said , Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely : for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
And Paul said , I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost , and altogether such as I am , except these bonds.
