10When he had seen1the vision, immediately2we sought to ago into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to 3preach the gospel to them.
11Soputting out to sea from 4Troas, we ran5a straightcourse to Samothrace, and on the day following to Neapolis;
and from there to 6Philippi, which is a leadingcity of the district of 7Macedonia, 8a Roman colony; and we were staying in thiscity for somedays.
And on 9the Sabbathday we wentoutside the gate to a riverside , where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and we satdown and began speaking to the women who had assembled.
A womannamedLydia, from the city of 10Thyatira, a seller of purplefabrics, 11a worshiper of God, was listening; band the Lord12opened her heart to respond to the thingsspoken by Paul.
And when she and 13her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.
It happened that as we were going to 14the place of prayer, a slave-girlhaving15a spirit of divinationmet us, who was bringing her mastersmuchprofit by fortune-telling.
17FollowingafterPaul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "Thesemen are bond-servants of 16the MostHighGod, who are proclaiming to you cthe way of salvation."
