Now the LORDsaid to Moses, "Cut out for yourself 1twostonetablets like the formerones, and 2I will write on the tablets the words that were on the formertabletswhich you shattered.
"So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to 3MountSinai, and apresentyourselfthere to Me on the top of the mountain.
"4Noman is to come up with you, nor let anyman be seenbanywhere on the mountain; even the flocks and the herds may not graze in front of that mountain."
So he cut out 5twostonetablets like the formerones, and Mosesrose up early in the morning and went up to MountSinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and he tooktwostonetablets in his hand.
56The LORDdescended in the cloud and stoodthere with him as che called upon the name of the LORD.
Then the LORDpassed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORDGod, 7compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and dtruth;
who 8keepslovingkindness for thousands, who forgivesiniquity, transgression and sin; yet He 9will by nomeansleave the guilty unpunished, 10visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."
8Mosesmadehastee11to bowlowtoward the earth and worship.
He said, "12Ifnow I have foundfavor in Your sight, O Lord, I pray, let the Lordgo along in our midst, eventhoughf13the people are so obstinate , and 14pardon our iniquity and our sin, and 15take us as Your own gpossession."
Then hGod said, "Behold, 16I am going to make a covenant. Beforeall your people17I will performmiracleswhich have not been iproduced in all the earthnor among any of the nations; and all the peoplejamongwhom you live will see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearfulthing that I am going to perform with you.
"kBe sure to observewhat I am commanding you this day: behold, 18I am going to drive out the Amoritebefore you, and the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.
"19Watch yourself that you makenocovenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst.
"20But rather, you are to teardown their altars and smash their sacred pillars and cutdown their l21Asherim14
