Siege of Jerusalem Predicted

1 "Now you son of man, get yourself a brick, place it before you and inscribe a city on it, Jerusalem. 7 "Then you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared and prophesy against it. 16 Moreover, He said to me, "Son of man, behold, I am going to break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they will eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and drink water by measure and in horror, 5 "Thus says the Lord GOD, 'This is Jerusalem ; I have set her at the center of the nations, with lands around her. 3 He stretched out the form of a hand and caught me by a lock of my head ; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the idol of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy, was located. 4 The LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst." 8 As they were striking the people and I alone was left, I fell on my face and cried out saying, "Alas, Lord GOD ! Are You destroying the whole remnant of Israel by pouring out Your wrath on Jerusalem ?" 15 "Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, your fellow exiles and the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, 'Go far from the LORD ; this land has been given us as a possession.' 10 "Say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem as well as all the house of Israel who are in it."' 19 "Then say to the people of the land, 'Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel, "They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with horror, because their land will be stripped of its fullness on account of the violence of all who live in it. 16 along with the prophets of Israel who prophesy to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her when there is no peace,' declares the Lord GOD. 21 For thus says the Lord GOD, "How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem : sword, famine, wild beasts and plague to cut off man and beast from it! 22 "Yet, behold, survivors will be left in it who will be brought out, both sons and daughters. Behold, they are going to come forth to you and you will see their conduct and actions ; then you will be comforted for the calamity which I have brought against Jerusalem for everything which I have brought upon it. 6 "Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, 'As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem ; 2 "Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations 3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem, "Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite, your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 12 "Say now to the rebellious house, 'Do you not know what these things mean?' Say, 'Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, took its king and princes and brought them to him in Babylon. 2 "Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and speak against the sanctuaries and prophesy against the land of Israel ; 20 "You shall mark a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and to Judah into fortified Jerusalem. 22 "Into his right hand came the divination, 'Jerusalem,' to set battering rams, to open the mouth for slaughter, to lift up the voice with a battle cry, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up ramps, to build a siege wall. 19 "Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Because all of you have become dross, therefore, behold, I am going to gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 4 "Their names were Oholah the elder and Oholibah her sister. And they became Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah and Jerusalem is Oholibah. 2 "Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. 2 "Son of man, because Tyre has said concerning Jerusalem, 'Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken ; it has opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,'
