2Jacobsaidwhen he saw them, "This is God'sacamp." So he named that placeb2Mahanaim.
Then Jacob3sentmessengersbefore him to his brotherEsau in the land of 4Seir, the ccountry of 5Edom.
He also commanded them saying, "Thus you shall say to my lordEsau: 'Thussays your servantJacob, "I have sojourned with Laban, and 6stayeduntilnow;

The messengersreturned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brotherEsau, and furthermore9he is coming to meet you, and fourhundredmen are with him."
Then Jacob was 10greatlyafraid and distressed; and he divided the peoplewho were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into twocompanies;
for he said, "IfEsaucomes to the onecompany and dattacks it, then the company which is left will escape."

10fI am unworthy13of all the lovingkindness and of all the gfaithfulnesswhich You have shown to Your servant; for with my staff only I crossedthisJordan, and now I have becometwocompanies.
"14Deliver me, I pray, 15from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and hattack me and the 16mothers with the children.
"For You said, '17I will surelyiprosper you and 18make your jdescendants as the sand of the sea, which is toogreat to be numbered.' "
So he spent the nightthere. Then he kselected from what lhe had with him a 19present for his brotherEsau:

15thirtymilkingcamels and their colts, fortycows and tenbulls, twentyfemaledonkeys and tenmaledonkeys.
He delivered them into the hand of his servants, everydrove by itself, and said to his servants, "Pass on before me, and put a spacebetweendroves."
He commanded the mone in front, saying, "When my brotherEsaumeets you and asks you, saying, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and to whom do these animals in front of you belong?'
