Therefore let us leave1 the elementary teachings2 about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,a3 and of faith in God,
instruction about baptisms,4 the laying on of hands,5 the resurrection of the dead,6 and eternal judgment.
And God permitting,7 we will do so.
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened,8 who have tasted the heavenly gift,9 who have shared in the Holy Spirit,105
who have tasted the goodness11 of the word of God12 and the powers of the coming age,
if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance,13 becauseb to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God14 all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God.
But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed.15 In the end it will be burned.
