6 For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with influences from the east, And they are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they strike bargains with the children of foreigners.

8 For the fields of Heshbon have withered, the vines of Sibmah as well; The lords of the nations have trampled down its choice clusters Which reached as far as Jazer and wandered to the deserts; Its tendrils spread themselves out and passed over the sea.

15 For they have fled from the swords, From the drawn sword, and from the bent bow And from the press of battle.

14 Because the palace has been abandoned, the populated city forsaken. Hill and watch-tower have become caves forever , A delight for wild donkeys, a pasture for flocks;

23 Your tackle hangs slack; It cannot hold the base of its mast firmly, Nor spread out the sail. Then the prey of an abundant spoil will be divided; The lame will take the plunder.
