4 When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and purged the bloodshed of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning,

Woes for the Wicked

8 Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field, Until there is no more room, So that you have to live alone in the midst of the land ! 25 On this account the anger of the LORD has burned against His people, And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them down. And the mountains quaked, and their corpses lay like refuse in the middle of the streets. For all this His anger is not spent, But His hand is still stretched out. 12 "The LORD has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land. 22 and because of the abundance of the milk produced he will eat curds, for everyone that is left within the land will eat curds and honey. 23 For a complete destruction, one that is decreed, the Lord GOD of hosts will execute in the midst of the whole land. 6 Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. 11 Therefore my heart intones like a harp for Moab And my inward feelings for Kir-hareseth.

Message to Egypt

1 The oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt ; The idols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, And the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them. 3 "Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them; And I will confound their strategy, So that they will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead And to mediums and spiritists. 14 The LORD has mixed within her a spirit of distortion ; They have led Egypt astray in all that it does, As a drunken man staggers in his vomit. 24 In that day Israel will be the third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 13 For thus it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, As the shaking of an olive tree, As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over. 11 And he will spread out his hands in the middle of it As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim, But the Lord will lay low his pride together with the trickery of his hands. 9 At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently ; For when the earth experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. 23 But when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, They will sanctify My name ; Indeed, they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob And will stand in awe of the God of Israel. 11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
