26 'For wicked men are found among My people, They watch like fowlers lying in wait ; They set a trap, They catch men. 11 But I am full of the wrath of the LORD ; I am weary with holding it in. "Pour it out on the children in the street And on the gathering of young men together ; For both husband and wife shall be taken, The aged and the very old . 9 "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught ; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have? 22 May an outcry be heard from their houses, When You suddenly bring raiders upon them; For they have dug a pit to capture me And hidden snares for my feet. 3 because Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, "Why do you prophesy, saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am about to give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it; 24 'Behold, the siege ramps have reached the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, the famine and the pestilence ; and what You have spoken has come to pass ; and behold, You see it. 28 Therefore thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am about to give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it. 22 'Behold, I am going to command,' declares the LORD, 'and I will bring them back to this city ; and they will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire ; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.' " 8 "The Chaldeans will also return and fight against this city, and they will capture it and burn it with fire."' 3 "Thus says the LORD, 'This city will certainly be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon and he will capture it.' " 28 So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guardhouse until the day that Jerusalem was captured.

Jerusalem Captured

Prophecy against Moab

1 Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Woe to Nebo, for it has been destroyed ; Kiriathaim has been put to shame, it has been captured ; The lofty stronghold has been put to shame and shattered. 7 "For because of your trust in your own achievements and treasures, Even you yourself will be captured ; And Chemosh will go off into exile Together with his priests and his princes. 41 "Kerioth has been captured And the strongholds have been seized, So the hearts of the mighty men of Moab in that day Will be like the heart of a woman in labor. 44 "The one who flees from the terror Will fall into the pit, And the one who climbs up out of the pit Will be caught in the snare ; For I shall bring upon her, even upon Moab, The year of their punishment," declares the LORD. 2 "Declare and proclaim among the nations. Proclaim it and lift up a standard. Do not conceal it but say, 'Babylon has been captured, Bel has been put to shame, Marduk has been shattered ; Her images have been put to shame, her idols have been shattered.' 9 "For behold, I am going to arouse and bring up against Babylon A horde of great nations from the land of the north, And they will draw up their battle lines against her; From there she will be taken captive. Their arrows will be like an expert warrior Who does not return empty-handed. 24 "I set a snare for you and you were also caught, O Babylon, While you yourself were not aware ; You have been found and also seized Because you have engaged in conflict with the LORD." 31 One courier runs to meet another, And one messenger to meet another, To tell the king of Babylon That his city has been captured from end to end; 41 "How Sheshak has been captured, And the praise of the whole earth been seized ! How Babylon has become an object of horror among the nations ! 56 For the destroyer is coming against her, against Babylon, And her mighty men will be captured, Their bows are shattered ; For the LORD is a God of recompense, He will fully repay.
