In the 1fourthyear of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, thiswordcame to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2"Take a a2scroll and write on it all the 3wordswhich I have spoken to you concerning4Israel and concerningJudah, and concerningall the 5nations, from the 6day I first spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to thisday.
"7Perhaps the house of Judah will hearall the calamitywhich I plan to bring on them, in order that everyman will 8turn from his evilway ; then I will 9forgive their iniquity and their sin."
Then Jeremiahcalled10Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruchwrote on a b11scrollcat the dictation of Jeremiahall the words of the LORDwhich He had spoken to him.
5JeremiahcommandedBaruch, saying, "I am d12restricted ; I cannotgo into the house of the LORD.
"So you go and 13read from the scrollwhich you have 14writteneat my dictation the words of the LORDfto the people in the LORD'Shouse on a 15fastday. And also you shall read them gto all the people of Judah who come from their cities.
"16Perhaps their supplication will hcomebefore the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evilway, for 17great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronouncedagainstthispeople."
8Baruch the son of Neriahdid according to all that Jeremiah the prophetcommanded him, 18reading from the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'Shouse.
