In Tahpanhes1 the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
"While the Jews are watching, take some large stones2 with you and bury them in clay in the brick3 pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh's palace4 in Tahpanhes.
Then say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I will send for my servant5 Nebuchadnezzar6 king of Babylon, and I will set his throne7 over these stones I have buried here; he will spread his royal canopy8 above them.
He will come and attack Egypt,9 bringing death10 to those destined11 for death, captivity to those destined for captivity,12 and the sword to those destined for the sword.1312
Hea will set fire14 to the temples15 of the gods16 of Egypt; he will burn their temples and take their gods captive.17 As a shepherd wraps18 his garment around him, so will he wrap Egypt around himself and depart from there unscathed.
There in the temple of the sunb19 in Egypt he will demolish the sacred pillars20 and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.' "
