11 "Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying, 'Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are to cross this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, to possess it.' " 2 At the end of three days the officers went through the midst of the camp ; 5 Then Joshua said to the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you." 10 Joshua said, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will assuredly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite. 6 "Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?' 25 However, Rahab the harlot and her father's household and all she had, Joshua spared ; and she has lived in the midst of Israel to this day, for she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. 12 "Therefore the sons of Israel cannot stand before their enemies ; they turn their backs before their enemies, for they have become accursed. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy the things under the ban from your midst. 13 "Rise up! Consecrate the people and say, 'Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, for thus the LORD, the God of Israel, has said, "There are things under the ban in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you have removed the things under the ban from your midst." 35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel with the women and the little ones and the strangers who were living among them. 7 The men of Israel said to the Hivites, "Perhaps you are living within our land ; how then shall we make a covenant with you?" 16 It came about at the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were neighbors and that they were living within their land. 22 Then Joshua called for them and spoke to them, saying, "Why have you deceived us, saying, 'We are very far from you,' when you are living within our land ?

Five Kings Attack Gibeon

1 Now it came about when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai, and had utterly destroyed it (just as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king ), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were within their land, 13 But the sons of Israel did not dispossess the Geshurites or the Maacathites ; for Geshur and Maacath live among Israel until this day. 10 But they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites live in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and they became forced laborers . 7 "For the Levites have no portion among you, because the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance. Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh also have received their inheritance eastward beyond the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them." 5 'Then I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt by what I did in its midst ; and afterward I brought you out. 17 for the LORD our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did these great signs in our sight and preserved us through all the way in which we went and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed. 23 "Now therefore, put away the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel."
